Services during Holy Week and Easter were deep and meaningful at Day’s Ferry Congregational Church.
At our annual Tenebrae Service on Maundy Thursday, we remembered our Savior’s crucifixion and death. Church members read scripture tracing Jesus’ torture and death.
The joy of Easter started with a breakfast in Johnson Hall. At the Easter worship service, as we celebrated God’s victory over death in raising Jesus from the tomb into life eternal. Jesus’ resurrection is hopeful evidence for the general resurrection of the dead to eternal life. A new heaven and a new earth will bring justice, peace, love, and joy to all of Creation. Mezzo-soprano Roxane M. L. Althouse performed ‘Alleluia’ by Mozart, from Exsultate Jubilate. We rejoiced with prayer and song in God’s great victory that enables us to face the future fearlessly.
