The Memorial Service for Bronwen Tudor will be held at 11 AM on January 10th at  Day’s Ferry Congregational Church, 50 Old Stage Road in the Day’s Ferry section of Woolwich.

BRONWEN TUDOR   1945-2025

Bronwen Tudor died in her Five Islands home on Nov. 12, 2025, where she wanted to be. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on March 4, 1945, daughter of Elbert John and Isabelle Claridge Taylor. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia where she got her early music appreciation, especially for church music. She graduated from Germantown Friends School in 1963 where she was exposed to a special music program and to community-aware philosophies which helped form her lifelong love of music performance and a dedication to community involvement. An excellent student, she graduated from Radcliffe College in 1967 and immediately began an around-the-world singing tour with the Harvard Glee Club and the Radcliffe Choral Society, a memorable and formative event. Professionally she was a teacher, an arts administrator and a church choir director. She taught both English and Music at Germantown Friends School, Erskin Academy, and Oak Grove-Coburn. She administered a community arts program in Augusta and briefly in Jacksonville.

She was a Board member of ACCUCA, a National performing arts organization. A soprano, she sang with many organizations: symphony orchestras in Boston, Jacksonville, Fla., and Portland, in local community choruses in Augusta, Brunswick, and Jacksonville and in many church choirs.

She had an active interest in community and political affairs to improve life, and believed participation was required before complaining. She had leadership roles in the choral

organizations and community organizations like the the Georgetown Working League, the Democratic party and Georgetown Government, and was the present chair of the Georgetown Select Board.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years David Tudor, her brother John Taylor and his family, a special cousin David Notter and family, and many family and friends who cherish their memories of her. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Jan. 10, 2026 at the Days Ferry Congregational Church in Woolwich.
